1.5.11 ~ 5/365

06 Jan

A longtime friend of mine recently moved back to town, and since we’re both currently unemployed, we get together during the week and go out for lunch. A sort of unemployment club if you will. We went out today to a local favorite – Surf Taco – and my sister came along. My sister and my friend are both into math (of the higher kind) and really get along well because of it. Through a series of events over the past few days, a “math challenge” was brought on for today.
After lunch was finished, the napkins, a pen and graphing calculators were brought out. For the next 15 minutes I was lost in a conversation consiting of math words that I didn’t understand (If it’s not what I call “crafty math”…i.e. math I need for crafts, I’m not into it…).
While they went back and forth about derivitives, fractions, tangents, exponents and who knows what else, I composted this shot with my point and shoot….

Ha ha! You sound like me :O) If the numbers don’t have anything to do with ISO, aperture, or shutter speed…who needs them :O)

I was told to add that they were doing Calc 2 “integrals”—but really—none of it made sense to me.
And I was also reminded that I did take honors calc in high school—I just don’t remember any of it! (And it didn’t have anything to do with yardage of fabric, dimensions of quilt borders, or counting knitted stitches—so why would I remember it?)

The collage was super easy– I use Picasa to do all my editing, and they have a few collage features right in the program. Picasa is a free download from Google.
