Happy Easter everyone!
Yes, you are never too old to dye Easter eggs!
As many children do this time of year, I too look forward to creating little works of art on my fragile canvas~ but if you know me, you know that the little wax crayon just won’t do for adding more than one color!
My family practices the ancient Ukranian art of Pysanky. Pysanky is a traditional way of decorating an egg using a wax resist method- but instead of using wax crayons, they melt wax over candles and use a small tool called a kistka to draw fine lines into symbolic pictures onto their egg. (Do a Google Image search for Pysanky to see some crazy-intricate designs!). We use the Pysanky method to “decorate” our eggs, but we don’t really follow the traditional symbolic designs, rather, we just draw pictures or simple designs.
