What happens when you plant 12 tomato plants in the beginning of the summer? You’re up to your eyeballs in tomatoes in early September! (And tomato worms…) We had planted two different varieties so that they would ripen at different times, but with the impending hurricane last weekend, we went out and picked any tomato that was of a decent size- ripe or not. We probably ended up with close to 20 pounds of tomatoes, and even though I ate tomato and cheese sandwiches all week and we had tomato and basil salads with every meal, our tomatoes were going to go bad- and quickly! So today, my mom took a bunch of ones that were starting to over-ripen and made sauce with it.
Mmmmmmmmm!

And just because it cracked me up….all the little naked tomatoes waiting to be pureed:

    That looks delicious!! Sounds like your tomato plants did great!! Mine did better than last year, but still not spectacular. Can’t wait to try again next year!!! =P
