Batsto Village

Day 71

Phriend and I ride again! This time we enlisted in a new photo friend (would that be Phriend squared now?) to come out with us, and we went to the historic village of Batsto in southern NJ. The village is a historic working village from the 1800’s, complete with a general store, grist mill, post office, housing, etc. We learned today that when people worked here, they were paid in funds that were only useable in the village- so it kept all of the money being earned there within the village to keep it going.

This photo was taken inside the grist mill, looking toward the general store, with the mansion in the background.
