What’s Left of Seaside

01 Nov

Phriend and I headed out to check out some of the destruction from Sandy today. We were unable to get into Seaside to check out our beloved boardwalk and amusement piers, but I was able to zoom in and capture this from across the bay. From here, the “skyline” of the rides appears to be the same, but news reports leave me knowing that it’s not, and in reality the Ferris Wheel and “Tower of Fear” are the only two rides still standing. The bridge to the left was eerily empty– on any given summer day it looks like a parking lot with bumper to bumper cars heading to the beach…but today, with it being deemed “structurally unsafe”, it sits quiet.
