“Sittin’ on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away…

Watching the ships roll in
And then I watch ’em roll away again, yeah

I’m sittin’ on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away”
Sitting On the Dock of the Bay by Otis Redding
(it must be “include lyrics in your blog” week for me 😉 )

Loved watching all these fishermen out on the inlet waiting for their catch of the day!

Seriously– it’s so hard to find anyone who follows the rules these days…

Any day at the beach is a good day- that I’ve always said. But, not every day at the beach is as picture perfect as today was. I’m so glad I ‘threw caution to the wind’ and brought my SLR with me. On a scale of 1-10, today was a 15– the sky was a deep shade of blue with really interesting cloud formations, the water was warm, and there was just enough cloud coverage to keep it from being too blasting hot. When I wasn’t in the water, I was walking down the beach taking pictures.

And when I wasn’t taking pictures, I was out, boogie board in hand, riding wave after wave after wave. Seriously– today was a perfect 10!
(I usually have my eyes open– I just think my expression here is hysterical!)

One more picture from the lighthouse yesterday- I textured this one with a few of Kim Klassen’s textures– Mustard Seed and Dusty Rose, then used two of the Coffee Shop’s actions- CS Vintage and Rounded Corners 2.

The theme of this week’s Texture Tuesday was “dreams”, and you were encouraged to share your dreams. That’s a little personal for me to share, but this picture, combined with the theme of dreams, just makes me think of one of Zac Brown Band/Jimmy Buffet’s new songs Knee Deep.

“Wishin’ I was;
Knee deep in the water somewhere,
Got the blue sky, breeze, and I don’t seem to care,
Only worry in the world,
Is the tide gonna reach my char?
Sunrise, there’s a fire in the sky,
Never been so happy,
Never felt so alive,
And I think I might have found me my own kind of paradise”

So there ya go– one of my “not so personal” dreams is to be “Knee deep in the water somewhere” 🙂

It’s been awhile since you’ve seen a lighthouse on my blog, and even longer since you’ve seen this particular lighthouse (which happens to be the one closest to me). The last time I showed off a picture of this lighthouse (back on the 7th of January! ) I’m sure I complained about how cold it was, how we were out there in the pitch black, trying to work our cameras and tripods through 3 pairs of gloves, using a flashlight or the light from our phones, blah blah blah…. yeah, we’re a bunch of complainers.

Anyway…Phriend and I decided to try to get a different vantage point on the lighthouse today, by going to a different beach and viewing it from across the bay. What we didn’t know, was that we’d have to walk nearly 2 miles, each way, in the blistering hot sand to get to it. Not that I’m complaining- I love the beach, and I love walking on the beach, I just think it’s funny what a contrast my “complaints” were from the last time we photographed this lighthouse.

In the end, it was all worth it, as we were able to get a bunch of unique shots!

Usually when I sneak up on a butterfly to snap a picture they quickly flutter away. This one must have been enjoying his snack as he sat there for quite a few minutes as I snapped away at him from every angle!

Because of this heat wave we’ve been having in the northeast, I think I’ve logged about 40 hours spent in the pool this week. I love the pool, but it’s starting to take a toll on my hair, skin and nails, so when I got out of the pool this afternoon, I decided to throw myself a little one-man spa party. I exfoliated, deep conditioned my straw…uhh..I mean my hair, gave myself a facial, and then gave myself a pedicure.

I look at my toes like like they’re little personal canvases that I carry around with my daily– and the artist in me says that I can’t have boring toes that look like everyone else’s. You’ll never see one boring color on my toes– either they’re polka dotted or striped, painted in some loud color, or my personal favorite- painted 10 different colors (I love coming up with color schemes for my toes!).

Today, I went a different route and took inspiration from something I saw on Pinterest– nails painted to look like a Tiffany box! I don’t actually own anything from that extremely overpriced store- and I doubt I ever will, but I just love how their whole brand is marketed around this little teal box with a white ribbon– it’s so cute!
Here’s my pinterest inspiration:

And no, sadly, I’m not the owner of the Tiffany’s box and bag in the background- I borrowed them from my sister.

7.22.11 ~ 203/365

With temperatures over 100* and heat indexes over 115* today, there was nothing more you could do than swim in the pool all day (darn). Later in the afternoon, a storm rolled through, and brought with it these awesome clouds that produced som sunbeams.
It was too hot out to take out the camera today (I didn’t think it was healthy for “my baby’s” health) so this was shot with my iPhone and edited with Instagram.

My sister and I found ourselves on the bay at sunset. Watching a sun set over a large body of water never gets old, but the pictures looked “blah”. I asked my sister to jump in front of me and strike a pose so I could play around with silhouettes. I guess I should have been more specific, because this is what I got!

Day 200! Wow, I feel like I was just taking my picture for day 100!
So yesterday I posted some pictures of a family and mentioned I had known the mom since elementary school…today I’m going further back in my timeline and posting pictures of my friend’s son– a friend I’ve known since preschool! Besides my family members- she is the person who’s known me longest in my life, and now has the most adorable little one year old. Unfortunately, we don’t get to see each other often, but when she came for a visit this week, I just knew I needed to spend some time with her son and my camera!
